How does jHost stack up against the 'big boys?'

Test Sites

We created several subdomains and pointed each to larger, better known web hosting companies so we could install EXACTLY the same website on different web hosting providers and test their performance.

Speed Tests

To keep the data unbiased, we tested each testing site using two 3rd party tools: Google's PageSpeed Insights and Pingdom's Web Page Loading test. Each test site offers additional information and links to the test results.

Test Yourself

Seeing is believing. We get that. We’re working on building a web app that will allow you to test your own site speed on different hosts. Stay tuned to our News blog for information and links once it's complete.

Performance Testing

Performance Tests

Our performance testing methodology.

Each VS jHost subdomain is a copy of EXACTLY the same WordPress website (give or take a few small CSS color changes) pointed to a top-tier hosting package from HostGator, GoDaddy and 1&1. We compared each of these sites to our baseline site (jHost.VSjhost.co) which is hosted with jHost, obviously. Finally, we tested each of them using two different 3rd party tools: Google's PageSpeed Insights and Pingdom's Website Loading Speet test. The results, as well as links to the test results themselves, are avaliable on each subdomain site.

  • Page Size: 1.9 MB (about the same)
  • Latency Testing based on Pingdom's analysis
  • Loading Speed based on Pingdom's tests
  • PageSpeed Score based on Google's tool
  • Features offered by host (or not offered)
  • Price of the package tested (for context)
